Everyone wants to be happy, but not everyone knows how to achieve it. Did you know that there are scientifically-proven ways to instantly feel happy? Let’s take a look at five of them that are so easy you can do them every day! Enjoy these daily reminders for pure happiness:

1. Smile

Do we smile because we feel happy or feel happy because we smile? It can go both ways according to Psychology Today. Find opportunities to smile and smile like mean it!

2. Say thanks

They say count your blessings, not your problems. It turns out that really is the way to go. According to Harvard Health, in one study, psychologists asked three groups of people to write about different topics. They asked the first group to cover things they appreciate, second group things that irritate them, and third group anything that affected them in a given week. After 10 weeks, people who focused on gratitude were more optimistic, felt better about their lives, exercised more and had fewer doctors’ visits than their counterparts who focused on daily annoyance.

3. Go out in the sun

Stay active and go out in the sun because winter is coming. Exercise is a preventive for all sorts of physical and mental illnesses. Sweat every day and stay fit. It’ll make you feel good in no time!

4. Eat that ice cream

We say self-control is key to success but, honestly, it’s okay to eat that ice cream once in awhile. Indulging in your favorite dessert or, if you’re not a dessert person, comfort food will give you strength to move on and tackle that next project at work or school.

5. Start that show on your watch list

Just as it is important to go out and be active, it is equally important to snuggle in bed and watch that show you’ve been meaning to start!
