5 Reasons to be uncontrollably excited for Uncontrollably Fond
Like me, have you been suffering uncontrollable browser refreshing on the Uncontrollably Fond DramaFever page since they announced the casting earlier this year? Do you wonder just what fan service Kim Woo Bin will deliver to make us all uncontrollably crazy? Are you still uncontrollably shaking from Doctor Crush withdrawal after watching episodes 5 and 6, then staring blankly at the screen realizing you now have to wait another week for more? Well, just in case for some inexplicable reason you are not delirious in anticipation of Uncontrollably Fond for any of the above reasons, here are five good reasons to be uncontrollably excited about this drama. (Really though, reason 1 is all you need.)
1. Kim Woo Bin
This model-turned-actor stole scenes in Gentleman’s Dignity, but gained huge popularity in School 2013 and as the bad boy second male lead in Heirs, where his take on the poor little (tall!) rich boy had everyone swooning, including me. And his ability to rock an abnormally long scarf was impressive in its own right. I’ll admit that this was my worst case of second male lead syndrome ever, and I cannot wait to see him finally get to be the lead and the main love interest in a drama. That man deserves to get the girl. And he deserves to film a few gratuitous shower scenes for fan service in the process (a fangirl can hope, right?).
Real-life girlfriend to Heir’s own Lee Min Ho, Suzy has been my imaginary BFF since Dream High. I always thought I could never love her pairing with anyone onscreen more than Ok Taec Yeon, but Kim Woo Bin is one charming bad boy, and they are an awfully easy couple on the eyes. Plus the previews have me convinced that sparks will fly. Also, she sings on the OST, which just means more ways to have Suzy in my life.
3. The Supporting Cast
I have loved Im Joo Eun ever since Wild Romance. She was hands-down one of the most enjoyable side characters in any show, and she did another excellent job in Heirs. She can play understated or goofy, and I am curious to see what kind of character she plays in this show. No matter what, it will be a joy to see her again. And I am curious to see Im Ju Hwan from Oh My Ghostess, though I have to admit I still hate him so much from that show that it is hard to imagine him in a love triangle with my Boo, Kim Woo Bin, and my BFF, Suzy. But for their sake, I will tough it out.
4. You’ll need a break from the stresses of Doctor Crush
Only 6 episodes in, and Doctor Crush is already wreaking havoc on my nerves. Like the right wine paired with a meal, Doctor Crush and Uncontrollably Fond seem like they will be perfect compliments to each other. Throw in Let’s Fight Ghost, and you’ll be able to keep yourself going from one to the other with only minimal ulcer-inducing worry about the fate of these characters while waiting for new episodes because you will be too busy stressing about the others. Plus all these shows are so strangely interconnected by real life relationships and past show relationships that it really is like a real life k-drama, sans drama. This summer is shaping up to be hot and full of romance, and a few ghosts. You know Lee Min Ho is going to be watching them all!
5. Kim Woo Bin
Yeah, I am putting him on here twice. Why? Let's just take a moment to bask in the glory of these gifs.
I think we all understand now, yes?
So there you have it. Five washboard abs, I mean five reasons, to watch Uncontrollably Fond. What reasons are you most excited about?
