5 Reasons to watch Penny Pinchers
Happy Lunar New Year! Many of our current shows (or obsessions, as I like to call them) went on hiatus this week for the holiday, but don’t panic. If you are missing the romance of Cheese in the Trap, can’t get enough of Han Ye Seul in Madame Antoine, or just need a good laugh and a little romance as you gear up for Valentine’s Day, Penny Pinchers is the movie for you. Here are five reasons to tune in (after you read this article, that is).
1. My Werewolf Boy
Okay, long before Song Joong Ki was breaking hearts with the box-office phenomenon A Werewolf Boy, he was breaking my heart, and stealing scenes, in SungKyunKwan Scandal. Penny Pinchers is my favorite role of his, though, in that it shows off his comic flare, he gets to be the male lead, and I didn’t cry for a week afterward like I did with A Werewolf Boy. Also, he is adorable. Those cheeks. I need them in my life.
2. Everybody's Favorite Spy, Han Ye Seul
I just love Han Ye Seul. She’s somehow insanely beautiful but also completely approachable. And not unlike her current role in Madame Antoine or her role in Spy Myung Wol, she plays the tough but tender heroine impeccably well. In Penny Pinchers, being a miser has never been more beautiful.
3. The Love Story
These two together at first may seem like an odd pair. But that might just be because I will ship her and Eric Moon from Spy Myung Wol until the day I die, and of course, Song Joong Ki belongs to me. But if opposites attract, and I have heard they do, then these two characters bring the sparks and sweetness as both grow during their time together. Watching them evolve in their own ways because of their affection for the other is not to be missed.
4. The Comedy
Korean films are willing to be a bit more raucous with their humor, which can be a nice change of pace from the usual K-drama. This movie is no exception, and it offers some amazing comic scenes that will ensure you always keep enough money in your wallet for any kind of emergency. If you need a break from the tension of your latest melodrama, or your own life, this is the movie for you. Also, did I mention yet Song Joong Ki's cheeks?
5. The Ukulele
I don’t want to spoil anything, but Song Joong Ki and his ukulele make a very nice, and comedic, pair.
There you go folks. Five reasons to watch Penny Pinchers, though I think we can all agree that Song Joong Ki is reason enough! Here is one more picture of him to prove my point!
