6 awkward K-Drama girls who could seriously be our soul sisters
Perfect girls are so passé! We love our role models with a pinch of flaw. For starters, girls who aren't afraid to goof up, make mistake, and overall just be their awesome selves, are much more relatable. While K-dramas are filled with perfect leading ladies, we decided we had to pay tribute to the real girls who make being goof balls look totally adorable!
Pyo Na Ri from Jealousy Incarnate
This DramaFever exclusive may have recently come to an end, but Gong Hyo Jin's portrayal of the awkward and lovable Pyo Na Ri will live on in our memories forever! She's the girl who had a crush on her colleague for over three years and wasn't afraid to flaunt it, she makes a fool of herself publicly to get what she wants, and she's happy to make herself look weaker to the world to protect the one she loves! Seriously, Pyo Na Ri, can we be besties?
Ji Eun Tak from Goblin
Agreed the drama isn't out yet, and its unfair to make assumptions about Kim Go Eun's character, but from what we can tell, her character is awkward in the most adorable way. She can apparently see spirits, she's overly enthusiastic (remember in the teaser when she goes to ask for a job in the chicken shop), and she really just wants a boyfriend! Oh Kim Go Eun, you seriously are all of us! Can't wait to see more of her on December 2.
Geum Jan Di from Boys Over Flowers
The quintessential awkward girls who showed us that good girls may finish last, but they always get the man of their dreams. She wasn't cool, rich or popular, but Gu Hye Sun's portrayal of Jan Di was truly inspirational for all of us who struggle to fit in! Pssst...she also made t-shirts acceptable swimwear and showed us that you can look cute even while drowning!
Hong Seol in Cheese in the Trap
Girls, learn to love your hair even if it looks like a lion's mane! Kim Go Eun makes the cut a second time with her adorable acting of a not-so-privileged girl who is just seriously sucking at life-ing! She's goofy, strange and terribly lovable. Unleash you inner Hong Seol ladies, and you never apologize for that unruly mane!
Kim Sam Soon in My Lovely Sam Soon
Meet the Korean Bridget Jones, who seriously gave us all hope! Kim Sun Ah's portrayal of Sam Soon taught us that even if you're overweight, unmarried and stuck with an embarrassingly old-fashioned name - in the end, everything works out. Oh and you will end up with the man of your dreams ;)
Tae Gong Sil in The Master's Sun
Another Gong Hyo Jin mention on our list! WHAT. Well, we clearly love her. After all, she is one of the most real K-drama actresses, who always takes on off-beat dramas that are relatable and a pleasure to watch. In The Master's Sun particularly, her portrayal of a reticent insomniac who is burdened with the ability to see ghosts is pretty fabulous. But what's even better is her relationship with So Ji Sub, which is just plain awkward, yet all kinds of adorable!
