Look inside Japan's new, real Pokemon Gym
Make your dreams of becoming a Pokemon trainer a reality! From the land that brought you Pikachu, a real-life Pokemon gym has opened up. While Pokemon themed stores and cafes are already available, as of November 19, 2015, aspiring trainers can visit the real-life gym in Osaka’s EXPO CITY.
At this gym though, you might not break much of a sweat, but maybe break your wallet. Along with a store and cafe (Gotta’ catch them souvenirs and food!), the two floor gym features arcade games and exhibits to interact with Pokemon and fellow trainers. According to Inside Games, the facility has been called a “hands-on edutainment facility”, allowing kids and adults alike to be educated and entertained.
Admission is 500 yen ($4.08), with games costing between 400 ($3.26) to 600 yen ($4.90) each. Interactive attractions include Charizard’s Battle Colosseum, Zoroark’s Somewhat Sinister Dojo, Machamp’s First Aid Center, and even a Pokémon Battle Bowling area.
Pokemon EXPO Gym has a companion smartphone app called “Pokemon EXPO Gym Gear” allowing visitors to check their stats and ranking at the gym. In the meantime, if you can’t jump on a plane to visit Japan quite yet, wait until 2016 when the “Pokemon GO” smartphone app comes out.
