Adorable cat from Korea becomes internet star for looking like Ghibli character
Living with this cute little thing is sure to make you feel as if you are a part of Studio Ghibli's magical world. A little kitty from Korea has become an overnight internet sensation not only for his huge eyes, but for his remarkable resemblance to one of Hayao Miyazaki's most beloved characters.
Named Gimo, this pitch-black Scottish Fold is about as cute as they come. Currently with over 170,000 followers on Instagram, this Korean cat has fans all over the world. Besides how adorable he is, what shot him into internet stardom is how he looks exactly like Makkuro Kurosake, otherwise called "black soots" or "dust bunnies" in the films My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. In both of these iconic films, Makkuro Kurosuke (which literally means pitch-black, black boy) are black, tiny, and fuzzy, just like Gimo the cat. The resemblance is really uncanny, except fortunately, Gimo will never turn into soot for any reason whatsoever.
