Answer Me 1997 producer didn't want to cast Seo In Guk or Eunji
Today, famed Answer Me series producer Shin Won Ho was candid with TV Report about the obstacles they faced at the very beginning. When they began casting for Answer Me 1997, Shin wanted top stars to take the main roles. However, everyone thought the K-drama would fail, and they wanted no part in it. “It was really difficult finding actors to fill the leading roles. All the A-list stars turned the drama down. They all said the drama would be a flop, and it was rejection after rejection."
Idols Seo In Guk and A Pink's Eunji weren't their first choices, but they obviously became the best choice the production company ever made. "Finally, we ended up casting Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji for the leading roles. They both did very well. Honestly speaking, I didn’t intend to cast them because I was so hopeful to cast bigger names, but they both did so well that they left a good impression.”
This is shocking news! Seo In Guk and Eunji are like the parents of the mega hit Answer Me series. There is no one who could take their place as Yoon Yoon Jae and Sung Shi Won. They paved the way for Girl's Day's Hyeri, Park Bo Gum, Go Kyung Pyo, and so many others to become top stars with Answer Me 1988. It's good the right people won the roles.
If there was a fourth installment, which year would you want them to portray? Who would you cast in the main roles?
