Are skinny jeans a health hazard for women?
According to Korea’s National Health Insurance Corporation, close to 100,000 women were diagnosed with varicose veins contributed in some part to the wearing of skinny jeans.
Doctors say wearing skinny jeans can increase varicose vein symptoms because of their tendency to be tight and restrict blood flow in the legs. Varicose veins are caused by damage to blood valves, and form a spidery appearance on various parts of the leg after being “stretched out and twisted” because of improper blood flow.
Since Korean women are not the only wearers of skinny jeans, it appears any fan of the jean style could perhaps run the risk of varicose vein symptoms.
