Billionaire's lesbian daughter writes an open letter asking him to be more accepting
Last week, we reported on Hong Kong property tycoon Cecil Chao's offer to pay any man $130 million to marry his lesbian daughter, Gigi Chao. This week, his daughter responded to her father's offer by writing an open letter to him in two different local newspapers asking him to be more empathetic about her sexuality.
Gigi has already rejected the 20,000 male suitors who offered to marry her as she is currently in a very happy relationship with her long-time partner, Sean Eav. Gigi states in the letter to her father, "...with Sean, a woman, somehow it was different. I am comfortable and satisfied with my life and completely at ease with her. I know it’s difficult for you to understand how I could feel romantically attracted to a woman; I suppose I can’t really explain it either. It just happens, peacefully and gently, and after so many years, we still love each other very much."
While it is clear that Gigi was not happy with her father's persistence in wanting her to marry a man, she still holds respect and reverence for her dad. "I am sorry that people have been saying insensitive things about you lately," she writes in the letter, "...will always forgive you for thinking the way you do, because I know you think you are acting in my best interests."
