Cows are considered holy animals in the Hindu religion, and in India one might see them freely roaming the streets, but in the northern Indian city of Agra, a group of orthodox Hindu followers takes cow worship to the extreme.

The Hindu cult, led by DD Singhai, founder of the Agra Gaushala Foundation, began drinking fresh cow urine every morning 12 years ago for its healing properties. Ever since, the trend has grown little by little with even cancer patients wanting to experience the possible health benefits.

Jairam Singhai, a member of the cult, can personally attest to the health benefits of drinking fresh cow urine as he has done so for the past decade. "I had diabetes, but ever since I have started drinking cow urine, my diabetes levels have been under control," Jairam said.

Followers claim cow urine can successfully combat a range of ailments from cancer to tuberculosis, all the way to baldness. DD Singhai has the desire to create more products made from sterilized cow urine such as soaps, toothpaste, herbal powdered medicine, and a variety of other things. Sounds like if you are going to buy a new natural brand of soap or toothpaste from India, you better remember to glance at the active ingredients.
