Exciting news for ARMY and K-pop fans everywhere! BTS, a group known for their international influence and record-breaking career, has once again made history by becoming the first K-pop group to win an award at the Billboard Music Awards.

After being nominated for Billboard's Top Social Artist award against other notable artists, such as Justin Bieber, who had previously taken home the trophy every year since 2011, BTS dominated headlines as the first K-pop group to be considered for such a prestigious award.

As soon as public voting began on May 1, BTS's fanbase, ARMY, enthusiastically showed their support by voting for the group on the Billboard Music Awards site and Twitter. Their voting hashtag "#BTSBBMAS" was used over 300 million times since then, winning them approximately 75% of the total votes.

On May 21, the popular group overwhelmed social media with their presence at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. However, what really attracted attention, was the monumental moment when they were announced the winners of the award.

When the group took the stage, fan could be heard shrieking as the seven members reacted to the win. Rap Monster began his acceptance speech, stating, “We still cannot believe that we’re standing here on this stage at the Billboard Music Awards. It is so great to see all the artists we admire, and we feel honored to be in this category with all these great artists right in front of us.”

He continued by thanking all their fans around the world for their love and encouragement, before adding,  “Please, ARMY, remember what we say: Love myself, love yourself,” After thanking fans in Korean, he also expressed his gratitude to Billboard for their support.

BTS is the first K-pop group and second Korean artist overall to win an award at the BBMAS. PSY was the first artist from Korea to ever win at the Billboard Music Awards when he took home the Top Streaming Song award for “Gangnam Style” back in 2013.

The award is well deserved considering that BTS has been slaying Billboard’s Social 50 chart, having topped it for an impressive 25 weeks since their first No. 1 last October. They became the K-Pop group with the highest-ranking album on the Billboard 200 last fall with their album "Wings" coming in at No. 26. On top of that, their most recent title track "Spring Day" also reached No.15 on the "Billboard Bubbling Under 100" chart, which Billboard described as “unprecedented" given K-pop’s history on Billboard’s singles chart.

Congratulations to BTS for this incredible accomplishment! We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for this amazingly talented group
