China considers building cloud-shaped skyscraper
Thanks to a new inventive architecture design, some residents in China might be able to live in a cloud someday. And no, I don't mean the iCloud. The winner of an international contest to design a skyscraper in Shenzhen is a building that's modeled to look like a cloud.
The design is called "Cloud Citizen," and its shape takes on the form of a disjointed cloud. There are three main towers, each at 2,231 feet, and it will encompass over 18.3 million square feet. If completed, the cloud-like building will be the second tallest building the world (behind the Burj Khalifa in Dubai).
Much of the building will be made up of offices as well as cultural facilities and green space. The logistics of actually constructing the immense structure are obviously extremely difficult, so it's hard to tell if the building will ever actually get made. But here's hoping that it will someday!
