Chinese chili tycoon pays billions in taxes for lucky license plate number
Tao Huabi is the founder of the famous Chinese chili sauce Laoganma. And as you would expect from someone who invented a product that's used by millions, if not billions, of people, Tao Huabi has a ton of money.
In fact, it's estimated that the noted businesswoman has 6.8 billion yuan in total assets, and for three years she paid 1.8 billion (roughly 293 million USD) in taxes to the government. So as a reward for all of her contributions to the government's coffers, Tao Huabi was recently rewarded with four license plates that all have the same number.
As you can see from the photos, the billionaire has used the license plates on her Rolls-Royce, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
Netizens seem to agree with her decision to showcase her lucky license plates in her luxury vehicles:
"Laoganma earned her money with blood and sweat, no matter how much she flaunt her wealth we will not be jealous."
"Well deserved, China’s international brand."
"An ordinary person who got rich through hard work, she should be respected and encouraged!"
