Yao Chen was named one of the Top 30 Most Influential People on the Internet by Time on March 5th. It is the third time she has earned the title, and she is the only Chinese representative on the list.
As the leading actress in Divorce Lawyers, Yao touts a record of 77 million followers on Weibo. When she became a Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2013, she actively got involved with numerous social causes. She also demonstrated a strong willingness to cross over into social commentary; such as criticizing smog pollution and defending the independent media against state censors.
