Still can’t figure out whether or not the diaper needs changing using the smell test or by its change in color? That's alright because Japanese scientists have figured out another way for you.

A team led by two professors at the University of Tokyo have created a cost-effective sensor that can be put in a diaper to send a wireless signal when it needs changing. The professors state that the flexibility of the film sensor reduces discomfort for users and will have the potential to allow hospitals to monitor vitals in a better way.

Before any desperate parents run out to buy one, the Japanese team is still in the prototype phase and will be unveiling their work later in San Francisco.
