DRAMA CLUB: Angel Eyes Episodes 9-10 (1/2)
This week’s episodes of Angel Eyes provided viewers with more tears, heartbreak, and even a couple of laughs along the way. To be honest, Episode 9 was more of a filler episode, but Episode 10 got things back on track!
During Episode 9, not too much happens that we haven’t seen before. One of the main things that we see is Ji Woon starting to turn stubborn and angry about the whole situation with Dong Joo and Soo Wan. I do understand where he is coming from though. He loves Soo Wan very much and he doesn’t really know what to do with his unreciprocated feelings. Finding out that Soo Wan’s first love is Dylan a.k.a. Dong Joo is probably what pushed him over the edge because of how much he liked Dylan as well. While he does show that he is angry by punching Dong Joo, he doesn’t truly seem to turn “evil” like some second male or female leads do. In fact, by the end of Episode 9 his angry stage is almost over and he is just left feeling super depressed and clingy. He really does need to let Soo Wan go for real though before things get worse.
Soo Wan confronted her father about Dong Joo as well which didn’t go so well. She told him that she loves Dong Joo and that she can’t marry Ji Woon. I love how completely honest and up front Soo Wan is about her feelings. It’s often very frustrating how long it takes for a character to stand up and say how they actually feel. However, he did not take it very well abandoning Soo Wan and Dong Joo as his “children.”
It’s good that Soo Wan found out about her father hiding Dong Joo’s letter from her all those years ago. I’m actually surprised she found out so soon, but I’m glad! After finding all of the letters at his house and the letter her father had, at least she knows that Dong Joo never truly abandoned her.
I also loved the flashback to the making of Miss Jung Hwa’s cooking tapes! It was very heartwarming to see both actors again. To be honest, the first two episodes are still the most compelling to me so far! On another note, Min Soo and Ji Woon’s friendship is cute as well. Right now he is just desperate for information about Soo Wan, but I don’t think he realizes how much he likes having Min Soo to talk to. And while we are talking about Min Soo, I also love her relationship with the Detective. When they are mistaken as father and daughter at the restaurant, it was so funny! I'm also very happy that episode 10 ended on a happy note with Dong Joo and Soo Wan happy about her father accepting them as a couple and giving his approval! I don't know how long it will last, but it was nice to see smiles instead of tears!
So now we know that Mrs. Kang (Ji Woon’s mother) is also partially responsible for Miss Jung Hwa’s murder. What exactly could her motive have been? Stay tuned for Part 2 of this week’s Angel Eyes Drama Club where we discuss even more!
