DRAMA CLUB: I Hear Your Voice Episodes 15-16 (4/4)
I'm back again to wrap up our drama club thoughts for episodes of 15 and 16 of "I Hear Your Voice." We've come a long way since episode one. I hope you had a chance to read June and Jhon's reviews this week. We are quickly approaching the end of the drama so be sure to show us your support and check out our final opinions on the drama next week!
Last week's episodes were all about Seo Do Yeon (Lee Da Hee). June and I were drawn into the episodes involving Do Yeon (and cried) while Jhon thought the Do Yeon storyline was unnecessary and unworthy of attention with limited character development throughout the drama. I do agree that Do Yeon had a flat story line throughout the series. I also noticed along with Jhon that Do Yeon doesn't have a life outside of work. Oddly, when she's not working or spending time with colleagues, she is at home. Coincidentally, her father, Seo Dae Suk (Jung Dong Hwan), is also at home all the time, but we saw in the last few episodes, scenes of him actually going to work, though nothing more than that. I'm not even sure what he does for a living.
As for the main court case involving Hwang Dal Joong (Kim Byung Ok), June relished scenes that involve Go Sung Bin (Kim Ga Eun) and Kim Choong Ki (Park Doo Shik) summarizing and bickering over the court case. The scenes weren't necessary in my opinion, but I think that the writer had to insert their characters into the story line somehow. I find it odd that the Hwang Dal Joong case made national news, but Sung Bin and Choong Ki easily went to the courtroom that housed many empty seats and sat in the gallery to watch the court case. I thought the courtroom would have been packed with people. Anyway, Sung Bin gave Choong Ki a hug in response to her being the winner of their mini argument so I believe their romance has already started.
In the meantime, Jhon wrote about the flaws of the Korean justice system. Isn't it shocking that there is no penalty when the judge makes the wrong verdict, but does not overturn it after knowing the truth? Even after 26 years in jail and a looming, biological, death sentence, all Hwang Dal Joong wanted was an apology from Judge Seo Dae Suk. Jhon and I think Judge Seo is hopeless and will probably never admit any wrongdoings.
What's in store for this week's final episodes? June hopes that everything will work out for Soo Ha after witnessing his panic attack when he found out his girlfriend and savior, Jang Hye Sung (Lee Bo Young) had been kidnapped by their mortal enemy, Min Joon Gook (Jung Woong In). On the other hand, as June mentioned, Soo Ha did get an eerie, foreshadowing dream about Hye Sung just like Hye Sung's mother did before she met her doom. Fans of this drama are voicing their protest over the fact that Soo Ha's life might be hanging by a thread. Joon Gook did say that he will "see this to the end." He spent last week's episodes in preparation for what could be his final revenge plot so his idea better be a good one. All I can think about is Joon Gook's favorite weapon of choice, which is a wrench this time. The newspaper clippings are still loose pieces to a puzzle: mysterious. Who will survive? I can't wait to find out. Will we get a happy ending?
