DRAMA CLUB: Love Around Episode 11 (2/4)
Leah from ZombieMamma here! After last week's super lovey-dovey episode, I was expecting this week's episode to bring with it some major drama and/or conflict and in some ways, I was right. However that drama was completely overshadowed by what we really got from this episode, that being another dose of Xiao Shu awkwardness and a whole lot of shipping couples two and three. *Hooray!*
So let's start with the awkwardness and unpleasantness of this episode before we dive into the good stuff, shall we? First off, what's up with Xiao Shu and her strange habit of taking everything she hears or reads so very literally? She took James's advice on dating way too far and ended up putting us through several episodes of awkward interaction with Zhou Zhen as a result and here we are, one episode after really being with Zhen, back where we started, with a whole lot of awkwardness after reading one silly article on dating. Really Xiao Shu? Really? Hasn't Zhen proved himself time and time again that he's a perfect gentleman and not anything like the scum bag you used to date? I swear, sometimes Xiao Shu's habit of reading too much into things just really irritates me. Lucky for us, this particularly awkward moment is short-lived and we can move on to more important things...like how to get Xiao Shu's dad to accept Zhen.
This is what provides us with some sort of conflict and I have to admit, I was a bit nervous when Papa Liang told Zhou Zhen to break up with Xiao Shu. For one brief moment, I was afraid Zhen might actually consider Papa Liang's proposal, especially when Zhen came home in such a funk after spending an evening at the hot springs with Xiao Shu's family. Lucky for us all, Zhou Zhen is a genuine gentleman who's madly in love with Xiao Shu and manly enough to admit as much to her father. I might have done a little fist pump when Zhen stood up to Papa Liang and admitted that as long as Xiao Shu wanted him around, he wasn't going anywhere. See, I told you Zhen was the man!
As great as it was to see Zhen standing up to Xiao Shu's father, the most enjoyable part of this episode was watching Ying Ying fall in love with Gao Zhe Xuan. Yeah, that moment on the swings when he helped her overcome her life-long fear of swinging sealed the deal. Now we just have the pleasure of watching Ying Ying win over Zhe Xuan, which shouldn't be too difficult now that he's seen for himself that Xiao Shu is with Zhou Zhen. I don't know about you, but I'm really looking forward to watching the relationship between Zhe Xuan and Ying Ying progress. I really love watching the two of them together and seeing how they're slowly changing each other for the better.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment to ship Fei Li and Jessica. I know their time together in this episode was short but they were still so cute! Fei Li is just too adorable, especially now that he's decided to take responsibility for eating Jessica's "love candy." I'm still holding out hope that the two of them will get together before the end, though I'll be the first to admit they still have a long way to go and time is quickly running out.
So what were your favorite moments of this episode? It seems that the conflict between Zhen and Papa Liang has been somewhat resolved. Do you think they'll have more confrontations in the future? Do you see trouble creeping in anywhere else for our beloved couple? What are your thoughts on Ying Ying and Zhe Xuan? How long do you think it'll take for Zhe Xuan to realize he's fallen for Ying Ying? What about Jessica and Fei Li? Do you think they'll ever get together? Share your thoughts as we attempt to patiently await next Monday and the release of episode twelve.
