It seems that with the conclusion of episode three, most of us can agree that Zhou Zhen and Liang Xiao Shu are obviously meant for each other and while the rest of the world can see it, they themselves are completely oblivious to the fact. I mean really, have you ever seen a couple get along so well together so quickly? I, like so many of you, am completely enjoying watching the friendship grow between Zhen and Xiao Shu. I love that, like Kdrama Therapy said, Zhen and Xiao Shu are "becoming good friends who lean on each other." What better way to lay the foundation for a great relationship than by leaning on each other as friends first? Of course no one else in the world would believe that they're only just friends. Just look at how they interact with each other! They really do seem to be made for each other. *Awwww!*
While we can all agree Zhen and Xiao Shu's celebration of singleness seemed much more like a date it that didn't make it any less fun to watch. I particularly enjoyed the conversation between Zhou Zhen and Liang Xiao Shu at the café. Zhen's whole "I want to walk slower" speech was just so sweet and honest...I wouldn't be surprised if it made Xiao Shu's heart flutter.
Of course, everyone's favorite café scene seems to be the door scene with Liang Xiao Shu and Zhou Zhen's ex and it's easy to see why. The symbolism used is pretty potent and I think we all enjoyed seeing the two fight, metaphorically, over Zhen's heart. More importantly, this scene with Ms. Ex has solidified her, in everyone's opinion, as an absolute *ahem* nightmare that none of us can stand. It's so nice of the writers to give us a character we can universally hate! What is it about this snotty ex that makes us all cringe?
This episode also introduced us (officially) to Gao Zhen Xuan, the adorable accountant from episode two who turns out to be, not only Xiao Shu's childhood friend but the third angle in a very obvious love triangle. While Gao Zhen Xuan may seem to some to be a more logical fit for Xiao Shu I, like many of you, just don't see him standing a chance against Zhou Zhen. I think a lot of us would rather see Zhen Xuan develop a relationship with Ying Ying than get in the way of Xiao Shu and Zhen. I love the ridiculous encounters Gao Zhen Xuan and Ying Ying have had thus far and I think we'd all love to see more in the future, as the two work their way towards love, but whether or not that will actually happen...well, I suppose it's too soon to tell.
Now that all of the major characters in our story have been introduced, I'm anxious to see how this story develops. I feel like this episode finishes laying the groundwork for the show and from here on out we'll be seeing a lot less cheese and a lot more plot. Not that cheese is bad, I'm just anxious to see the story to move beyond basic plot development and character introductions. Bring on the conflict and let's get this story moving! On to episode four!
