[caption id="attachment_176419" align="alignnone" width="650"]lovearoundep6pic2 I never knew elevators were so full of sexual tension... oh wait, yes I did.[/caption] So I was really hopeful for our cute Love Around couple during the first half of this episode. It was a great triumph for Zhou Zhen when Liang Xiao Shu met his father during their office volunteer work. She was confronted with the idea that the media, herself included, doesn't always depict an accurate portrayal of a person. [caption id="attachment_176415" align="alignnone" width="585"]lovearoundep6pic5 Please don't chop off my fingers Mister Gangster[/caption] [caption id="attachment_176414" align="alignnone" width="650"]lovearoundep6pic4 These streets aren't safe [/caption] After being served a platter of truth by daddy Zhou, Zhen witnessed the two working together, and he was noticeably ecstatic. Beyond just wanting clear his father's gangster image, I think he also wanted the personal approval of his "friend" Xiao Shu. [caption id="attachment_176416" align="alignnone" width="650"]lovearoundep6pic3 *wipes drool*[/caption] But wait, in typical Asian drama fashion Zhen's winning on the Xiao Shu front ends there. Pretty much right after the happy times hanging out with old people, Xiao Shu mistakes Ying Ying's begging as a girlfriend's clinging. Suddenly Xiao Shu turns from cheerful to depressed. I attribute Xiao Shu's abrupt mood change to her recent break up. She had no idea her boyfriend was cheating on her, and she felt like a fool once she found out. Why would she want to even risk something like that again? Yes, she jumped to conclusions too quickly without getting any explanation from Zhen, but she's still being cautious with her heart. [caption id="attachment_176417" align="alignnone" width="650"]lovearoundep6pic6 Cheer up, drink some Coke[/caption] This is made clear when she mentions on the radio that liking someone and staying by them isn't them same as loving them. I really liked her line about two people misunderstanding their relationship being "two close parallel lines." Just as Gao Zhe Xuan likes her, but isn't getting those same feelings back, she is thinking the same will happen with Zhou Zhen. Doesn't almost everyone have the fear that they are liking/loving someone who will never feel the same way back? I understand that Xiao Shu is pretty out of touch with her own feelings, and clearly doesn't see the obvious sincerity coming from Zhen, but it's a world of mixed signals and misunderstandings in Asian drama land. [caption id="attachment_176418" align="alignnone" width="650"]lovearoundep6pic8 I'm completely clueless about who likes me and who I like, wheee![/caption] That's what makes the schoolyard scene between Zhe Xuan and Xiao Shu a heartbreaking one. We all know that these two are destined to be childhood pals and nothing more, but that doesn't negate Zhe Xuan's feelings. He is attached to their unchanging relationship that has been a rock for him to lean on since he was young. Unfortunately, if he never changes then their relationship also never changes which means they are going to stay as sweet friends. We haven't seen the results of Zhe Xuan's heartfelt confession yet, but I am predicting rejection at this point. [caption id="attachment_176420" align="alignnone" width="650"]lovearoundep6pic1 I'm cute, so give me money![/caption] Of course, I am personally hoping that Zhe Xuan and Ying Ying get together so maybe my predictions are biased because of that. Sometimes a great side-character romance plot can even outshine the main couple (that's what i think happened with King 2 Hearts). While Ying Ying is working hard to avenge (impress) Zhe Xuan with her business prowess, I hope that Zhe Xuan can wake up and realize that some things really do need to progress after elementary school.
