Wow, we are over halfway through Love Around now, and I think episode 8 was the best episode yet. This week focused on the progression of Zhen and Xiao Shu's relationship. It's a bit unfortunate that she had to be abducted and watch Zhen fight like a crazy warrior in order to realize that he likes her, but I guess some girls really need the validation. In true drama fashion, though, there needed to be some sort of violent/dangerous situation for our couple to get closer. What differentiates this drama from many others, though, is that the characters are reasonable people. After Xiao Shu found out about Zhen's father's identity, she thought about it and took the opportunity to better herself. So, clearly this drama has a lot to offer, and it is worth your time to watch. Now, there are a few silly things that I wanted to mention this week, though. Let's begin! THE FASHION lovearoundep84th lovearoundep2pic9 Basically just look at all of the images above to get an idea of the colorful fashion-scape of Love Around. Sometimes the outfits are a bit much, like the crazy pants Xiao Shu was wearing with the bed sheet design during most of episode 8, but they can also be very cute. I really want the shirt Xiao Shu's mom was wearing while helping her cook with the little bear face on the front.  And Ying Ying can't help but look fresh and fly in almost every situation. I really appreciate how bright and cheery this drama is. THE VILLAINS lovearoundep84th2 So far the only "villains" I have noticed Love Around  are Xiao Shu's ex-boyfriend who threatened her and Zhen early on in the drama and Zhou Sheng Ming who appeared in episode 7 as vile intoxicated driver. The latter of the two is definitely more evil. Come on man, how could you hit a little kid like that and feel no remorse? On one hand, I see him as a throw away villain who may or may not appear in the drama again, but on the other, I see him as a jab at the politicians who use their power and money to do as they please at the expense of everyone else. This is what differentiates Zhen's dad from guys like Sheng Min, he really seems to be reflecting on what he has done wrong and is making an effort to live a better life. So far Zhen and Xiao Shu's relationship and her issue with his father are major story arcs that progress with each episode. Will everything be smooth sailing again or will we continue to see episode-by-episode obstacles for the couple? The format of this drama isn't following with the norm. Generally we would have been introduced to a huge, nearly impassable road block for the couple by now so us audience members are all like, "when is this all going to blow up?" I don't want conflict for Zhen and Xiao Shu, but things seem too good to be true in drama land right now. Is this the calm before the storm?
