Everyone was shedding tears so we can conclude that by far this is the saddest episode :(
They tried to lighten it up with Kotoko and Kin-chan's cute little dates, but even so I would still say sad is the best word to describe episode 15.
I like how their dates are just the right dose of fun and bubbly. I couldn't help myself thinking of how good the two look together. They went to the movies, arcade follows, not forgetting the best thing you can do in an arcade. Yes, those claw machines! For some reason, I find it very sweet.
Then, later on Kin-chan proves himself worthy of reading Kotoko's mind by proposing to her using the plushie that she wanted. However, as Heisui pointed out, the proposal was so out of the blue. Why?!
Anyway, onto the sadder parts. On Rosie's point about Kotoko shuffling seats at the family
gathering, I found it quite depressing really. With Sahoko in the picture, it looks like Kotoko is now pushed to the side and almost out of the picture. Heck, she didn't even have a chair to sit on! And, no one seem to care because they're all so busy talking to Sahoko and her grandpa.
When she finally decided to take a chair from the kitchen and sat down, she continued to eat Sahoko's hand-made food quietly and observed. It was quite heartbreaking, really.
However, my personal most heart breaking moment is also the scene where Kotoko cried quietly under the stairs. After what seems to be a 'married couple's argument', to quote Irie-mama's words, Naoki effortlessly blurt out that Kotoko should go find a nice boyfriend out there. And there we have the moment where I really feel for Kotoko, plus I was swearing inside. Naoki, you @#&J!
Whew. I didn't expect a comedic drama to be able to pull of something this sad...
Regarding Irie-mama, I would have to disagree with Rosie on the point that her over-reacting being distracting. I was the last on the boat supporting Irie-mama and her shipping antics, so it might have to do with time. It was quite hard for me to watch her take on the super over-reacted mom ever, but now I have accepted it. I actually enjoyed all her inappropriate attitudes, like being against Sahoko until the very last moment (i.e. engagement party) and planning to purify the house with salt after Sahoko's visit. LOL. It couldn't get any sillier than this.
The running away out of the room, unfortunately, really ruined the touching scene where she apologized to Kotoko. I LOL-ed there.
Last but not least, can I just point out how detailed Heisui and Rosie are?? You guys pick up on the smallest things! Like the 'Kiss in the Rain' pamphlet and the backward LOVE sign (this should mean something, right?). I need to stop being oblivious. Awesome work, guys! Did anyone else pick up other interesting stuffs?
I still can't believe next week will be the last episode! Crossing my fingers for a great ending.
P.S. Kashiwabara Takahi's cameo as Dr Irie Naoki was disappointing. It was over in 5 seconds and he didn't even have any dialogue?!
