DRAMA CLUB: The Master's Sun Episodes 7-8 (1/4)
Drama Debussie here and it's official: I am in love with this show.
Seriously, is there a name for The Master's Sun fans yet? Because if there is, I'm one of those. If there isn't, comment section is open for suggestions.
I'm in love with Jealous Joong Won who's established a permanent residence in Joong Won's admittedly small repertoire of emotions. Watching him slowly fall for Gong Sil is so much fun. He wants to be a priority for her so he gets really annoyed when he knows she's spending time with someone/something else or if she's not all hot and bothered like he's been lately.
He's starting to think of her as a woman and he wants her to to look at him as a man, even if he doesn't know it yet.
It's adorably clumsy and will lead to so many misunderstandings that will drive us insane. It already happened at the resort. I'm hoping the Hong Sisters will show some mercy and make sure these two get together before the last episode. Waiting until the last minute to unite these two would just be cruel, especially after having us cry in almost every episode with these ghosts' backstories.
I mean, every week requires a box of tissues and a call to my therapist.
I hope that mercy will also be applied to Kang Woo and Yi Ryung who are already PERFECT together. At this point, I don't even see a reason for them NOT to be dating for much longer. Sure, Kang Woo may have some residual feelings after dumping Gong Sil (can someone be dumped if they weren't officially dating the person they're being dumped by?), but wouldn't it be nice to date someone who's genuinely interested in YOU instead of the attraction you have toward them, Kang Woo?
Okay, so Yi Ryung is vain and hanging onto a career that is slowly slipping away from her which makes her a little desperate, but no one is perfect. I've said it before, she needs someone to ground her and he needs to be with someone he can be his dreamy yet sarcastic self with. As much as they may bicker, both are able to be they're truest self with each other.
When you're not being honest with your heart, the pain you feel is your answer.
One thing I don't love are my conflicted feelings toward Cha Hee Joo. I don't even know her whole story yet and I'm already starting to hate her! She's such a big part of why all these characters have been brought together and yet we don't know what the true common thread is. Kang Woo has even been added to the mix of Hee Joo-ians (Hee Joo-ians: people who have been affected by Cha Hee Joo).
There's a huge part of me that wants to believe that Cha Hee Joo's reasons for what she did are justified, but there's a bigger part of me that thinks, "What good reasons could there possibly be for breaking Joong Won's heart and helping in his kidnapping?"
Then I think, (see? I told you I was conflicted) the common theme in this show is about protectors and all of us needing the assurance that someone will be there to protect us when we can't do it for ourselves.
Gong Sil protects the ghosts and their "unfinished business", Joong Won protects her from the ghosts, Kang Woo protects, well, everyone, etc.
Maybe Cha Hee Joo did what she did because she was trying to protect Joong Won, but from what? Or whom?
