DramaFever Weekly Top 10 for July 20, 2015
Do you know why one particular show is our #1 on the Top 10 Most Watched list? Everything else make sense, though, so let's see if you agree. Also, quite a few dramas are near their grand finale, so get ready to binge.
Running Man has shined on our Top 10 list for a long, long time, but recently it surged to the #1 spot and has stayed there. Does anyone know why? Was there a special guest appearance? Please let me know.
On the other hand, I understand why the 2013 Heirs is at #2 even though some readers have wondered about it. Lee Min Ho is one of the top Hallyu stars. He's handsome, and he's charismatic. (Read my comparison of Lee Min Ho's Gu Jun Pyo in Boys Over Flowers versus Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.) The stellar ensemble cast illuminated new stars such as Kim Woo Bin. Summertime is also when many viewers often relax by watching their favorite dramas again. Therefore, I'm not surprised about Heirs' high ranking at all.
Among the new dramas, it also makes sense that Mask is the top leader. Its attractive leads, Joo Ji Hoon and Soo Ae, have captivated our eyes and hearts as they endured the many fantastical twists and turns in the suspenseful story. I almost don't want the story to end. There are only 4 more episodes to go. Early on, I wasn't sure if we could even wish for a happy ending, but judging from the recent episodes, I think we can be hopefully optimistic. Don't forget to check check out some jawdropping kissing GIFs (warning: spoilers.)
Masked Prosecutor ends this week. My guess is that it'll end on a happy note, but at what cost and with what twist? I caught up with Joo Sang Wook and Kim Sun Ah this weekend and can't wait for them to defeat the evil guys (and for us to get our happy ending.) The original premise made me think it might be an action flick like Batman or Superman, but it is actually a very emotional drama with layers of intrigue to peel off. Joo Sang Wook is the one wearing a physical mask, but many other characters wear an invisible mask because of the tangled webs they weave.
Who else needs an uninterrupted block of time to catch up on My Love Eun Dong? This is a love story about first love, timeless love, unforgettable love, and, most importantly, the lovable Joo Jin Mo! The drama is ending this week as well. Fighting!
In other news:
Lee Joon Ki makes a midnight call starting Wednesday July 23 as a handsome and irresistible vampire in Scholar Who Walks the Night along with two beautiful leading ladies, Lee Yoo Bi and Kim So Eun. I can't wait. Ever since I saw Arang and the Magistrate, I've searched out Lee Joon Ki's other dramas, and this one is not to be missed. I hope he and Lee Yoo Bi have recovered fully from the injuries they sustained filming this drama.
A movie about an unusual romance, If You Are the One 2, will finally arrive this Saturday, July 25. It stars award-winning actor Ge You and the uniquely beautiful actress Shu Qi. (Learn more about Shu Qi HERE.) Journey with a couple who met under unusual circumstances and have decided to try a trial marriage after seeing their good friends going through a divorce ceremony. For a couple whose relationship is based more on friendship instead of passion, is the end result marriage or separation?
