DramaFever Weekly Top 10 for Jun 1 to June 7, 2015
Will last week's surprise winner School 2015 hold its #1 spot? We have the list, and there are some surprises involving brand new dramas EXO Next Door and Mask, as well as an old favorite from Lee Min Ho. Find out where your favorite dramas are on the list.
First of all, I want to congratulate Jeju Island Gatsby fans. Aren't we glad that we've hung in there and got our best rewarding dessert so far? Episode 8 is so delightful that I've re-watched the key moments probably 100 times. Okay, I'm exaggerating (just a little), but I assure you, it's well worth watching, but you've got to start from episode 1 to understand why it's been such an enjoyable journey. (Read my 8 warm and cozy reasons to love this adorable drama, and also catch up with hilarious recaps HERE.)
School 2015 continues its reign at the top this week. This show is a star-making vehicle for lead actress Kim So Hyun, who has the enviable attention from two rising young actors, Nam Joo Hyuk and Yook Sung Jae. I'm currently busy keeping up with Jeju Island Gatsby, Murphy's Law of Love, Mask, Orange Marmalade, Masked Prosecutor and more, but I think I will give this teenage romance a try too because there's got to be a good reason why it's our most popular show for the last 2 weeks.
How would you like it if 4 mysterious and handsome guys moved in to be your next-door neighbors? It must be a predicament that you love, because EXO Next Door leaped to #2 in its premiere week. Aside from the hot K-pop band's star power, it proves that the 15-minute episode is a successful format for binge watching. Remember the popular Dream Knight with GOT7? This format also helps us learn more about the individual members. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of this genre in the future.
The biggest star power apparently radiates from none other than Hallyu superstar Lee Min Ho, because not only was his new action movie just announced to excited fans worldwide, but his romance drama Heirs from 2 years ago also claimed #3 on our list. And his breakout series Boys Over Flowers was at #10 last week and is still at #11 this week.
In other news:
New Taiwanese romance comedy When I See You Again, starring Jasper Liu and Mandy Wei, starts on Monday, June 8. The Chinese title is actually "When he sees her a second time," referring to a guy who never thought he would meet and fall for a girl who disappointed him years ago. Let me give you a hot hint: Jasper Liu shows off his fit physique (not just his abs) in the swimming pool scene during the first episode.
