K-pop boy band EXO feels honored to hold a stage at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics’ closing ceremony. The band members chatted about the upcoming performance, Evgenia Medvedeva, who is a Russian figure skater and huge EXO fan, and future plans at the Olympics closing ceremony press conference on Wednesday at Alpensia resort in PyeongChang.

Regarding the performance, EXO member Suho spoke on behalf of the group, saying, “We’re honored to perform at the closing ceremony. We’ve prepared so much for Sunday. Please stay turned.”

Baek Hyun chimed in, saying it is his “family’s honor” for him to be on the Olympics’ stage. While he felt honored, Baek Hyun felt a bit of pressure to excel. “We usually prep for the end-of-the-year performances the longest, but I thought we’d need to put even more effort for this stage,” he said.

The EXO members feel incredulous to be performing at the Olympics, especially since none of them were even born during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, which was the first time South Korea hosted the Olympics. “We reminisced about admiring foreign singers performing at the Olympics. We might have tears rolling down at the end of our performance ,” Suho added.

On figure skater Evgenia Medvedev, who shared her profound love for EXO in last week’s interview, the members said, “We delivered [a] signed CD through [a] manager. Thankfully she has shared a lot about us in her interviews. We wish her well and hope for no injuries until her last game.”

The EXO members have watched almost all of the short track speed skating games. They would love to meet speed skater Yoon Sung Min. “I think we’d click. I saw him in an Iron Man helmet. I’m an Iron Man fan myself as well,” Suho said.

EXO is currently on a world tour. When asked about plans to perform in the United States, they said they would love to perform in as many countries as possible after the tour.

CL, who will perform alongside EXO at the Olympics closing ceremony, attended the conference as well. See the full list of K-pop groups at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics here.
