Jaw reconstruction surgery is used when a patients wants more symmetry and balance to their face. Usually people with larger jaws and chins get this surgery to achieve a more proportionate and smaller looking face. In Korea people who undergo this surgery are after the “V-Line” look which is when your jaw line literally is shaped like a “V.”

Basically the way this surgery works is by shaving or cutting your actual jaw into a “V” shape to achieve a smaller face. Patients are knocked out with anesthesia for a good two hours and have a laser cut and shape their jaw line. When they wake up, they stay in the hospital overnight and bring a hand mirror so they can stare at their stitched and bandaged face, happily knowing their new face waiting underneath!
