FIRST LOOK: Bubblegum, starring Lee Dong Wook and Jung Ryeo Won
Upcoming tvN Korean romantic comedy Bubblegum, starring Lee Dong Wook (Scent of a Woman), Jung Ryeo Won (History of a Salaryman), Lee Jong Hyuk (Dating Agency: Cyrano), and Park Hee Bon (The Master's Sun), has commenced filming and recently released its first set of teasers showing the awkward but adorable chemistry between the leads. Let's take a look at this fun new "modern fairytale."
Park Ri Hwan (Lee Dong Wook) is a selfless hospital director who cares for his mother and always puts the needs of others ahead of his own. His childhood best friend Kim Haeng Ah (Jung Ryeo Won) is a clumsy and impatient radio DJ who is hiding painful emotions. The two have been friends since they were kids but have never considered each other romantically. They suddenly decide to give love a try when they realize they both lead lonely lives, and the results are awkward at best.
Lee Jong Hyuk will play the level-headed and admirable chief of the radio news department who is passive when it comes to romantic relationships. Breaking out of her usual best friend typecasting, Park Hee Bon is a cold yet romantic heiress who has a successful dental practice.
Bubblegum will be directed by Kim Byung Soo, who previously worked on Nine, Queen In Hyun's Man, and Three Musketeers. It is being produced by the same company that made Secret Garden and A Gentleman’s Dignity. It is scheduled to air Mondays and Tuesdays and premieres October 26 before Cheese in the Trap, which will now be pushed to December or January.
