Cha Seung Won is shaking things up a bit in his upcoming role in the historical series Hwajung (Splendid Politics). Instead of playing the gruff hero, he will be showing off his villainous side this time around!

Fair Princess Jungmyung (Lee Yeon Hee) lives a life of the highest privilege, until her half-brother Prince Gwanghae (Cha Seung Won) executes the rightful crown prince and usurps the throne. Exiled from court, Jungmyung goes under disguise as a man and learns to adapt to life as a commoner — never forgetting Gwanghae's wrongdoing. But amidst rampant corruption throughout the kingdom, can Jyungmyung exact her vengeance, restore order, and take back her rightful place in the palace?

In case you're wondering, yes, this is the same Prince Gwanghae from Seo In Guk's The King's Face, but this time the drama will cast him in a more villainous light.

This is a true sageuk, planned for 50 episodes and featuring a cast packed to the brim with talent both old and new. Seo Kang Joon and Han Joo Wan will play Lee Yeon Hee's love interests, Kim Jae Won joins as Gwanghae's rival King Injo, and the supporting cast is full of familiar faces, like Lee Sung MinJo Sung Ha, and Seo Kang Joon's 5urprise group members Lee Tae Hwan and Gong Myung.

Looks like it's going to be epic! Hwajung premieres on Monday, April 13 on DramaFever. Sign up HERE for new episode alerts!
