Taeyeon had a big scare on the road this week.

Yesterday, the 28-year-old singer was driving on a three lane road in the direction of a metro station (Nonhyeon Station) when her Mercedes-Benz hit the rear of the taxi in front of her. The impact propelled the taxi into the Audi in front of it causing a three-car collision. Taeyeon was shaken up by the accident but remained unharmed, while people in the other cars sustained minor injuries.

Her agency, SM Entertainment, made a statement acknowledging the accident and openly apologized on her behalf. “Today at 7:40 p.m. [KST] in the area of Nonhyeon-dong, while attending to personal business, Taeyeon was involved in a car accident through her own careless driving. She is very apologetic towards the other drivers and passengers and will work diligently to resolve the post-accident matters. After dealing with the traffic accident, she has returned home safely without injuries. We apologize for having caused anxiety.”

A source from Nonhyeon Police Station 1 released a preliminary statement to OSEN, and they responded to a social media post about testing Taeyeon's blood alcohol level. "Taeyeon was very shaken up at the time of the accident. The other parties appeared to have just sustained minor injuries. We give out a sobriety test if there is suspicion of drinking. However, in Taeyeon’s case, there was no alcohol detected [in her system], which is why we did not measure her blood alcohol level."

What really happened on the road that fateful evening? According to Channel A, CCTV footage reveals that the I AM star's car was going at a high speed before impact. The two vehicles in front were stopped at a red light prior to the unfortunate event.

Response to the collision has been mixed with one side complaining she received special treatment at the site of the accident, and another side stating everyone was treated fairly. Taeyeon tried to put her fandom's minds to rest by responding to a concerned fan via social media. She reiterated that apologies had been made, everything was resolved and there was no need for further comment.

Thankfully, there weren't any serious injuries or fatalities. We wish a speedy recovery for those who did sustain minor injuries.
