Girls' Generation's Yuri offered lead in Park Shi Hoo's comeback drama Neighborhood Hero
Neighborhood Hero will follow former black ops agent Baek Shi Yoon (Park Shi Hoo) who lives his life quietly running a bar in a small town. When trouble comes to his neighborhood, he mentors and trains a young wannabe police officer. Together, they protect their beloved town from danger. If Yuri accepts the role, she would be playing a wannabe writer who frequents Park Shi Hoo's bar and becomes curious about his character.
So far, the supporting cast is shaping up nicely, with Yoon Tae Young signing on as a Korean-American mobster, Jung Man Sik as an intelligence officer and one of Baek Shi Yoon's former colleagues, and Jo Sung Ha as a detective. Son Ho Jun is also considering the role of Baek Shi Yoon's sidekick, though nothing is confirmed yet.
Both Park Shi Hoo and Yuri have been absent from the K-drama scene for several years. Park took a hiatus after facing allegations of rape at the beginning of 2013, and Yuri hasn't taken a television drama since the 2012 critical and ratings disaster Fashion King, though she did win the New Star award at the 2012 SBS Drama Awards for the role.
