Apparently love is not always blind! When a groom in China saw his wife from an arranged marriage for the first time at their wedding, he was so disappointed in her looks that he immediately left the ceremony and tried to drown himself in a nearby river.

In front of a room full of guests during the ceremony, witnesses say 33-year-old Kang Hu told 30-year-old Na Sung that she would be bad for his image because she was too ugly. He then disappeared, leaving the bride at the altar.

Pal Chan Wang, a guest at the wedding, said, “It was a very awkward moment for everyone. The bride was devastated, her family was furious, and we, his friends, were embarrassed.”

His friends left to search for the groom but didn't find him until several hours later when someone saw him walking along the riverbank. As people approached, he suddenly threw himself into the river in a suicide attempt.

His friend Qan Tsui took photos and said, “He was fully clothed and floating face down in the water. He was unconscious and I thought he was dead. When the police arrived, one jumped in and dragged him ashore with the help of firemen who put a rope around his chest to pull him out before pumping his chest. They saved his life.”

When the groom regained consciousness, he stated, “I feel bad about what happened, but when I saw her she wasn’t what I had expected and I realized she would be bad for my image. My parents had arranged this and I couldn’t see any way out apart from suicide.”

What do you think of this groom's actions? Hopefully the bride can find someone who truly appreciates her.
