GROSS: Super-roaches invade New York City
A new cockroach capable of resisting brutal cold was discovered in New York City recently, giving about 8 million people the hardcore willies. These bugs are capable of surviving both extreme heat and cold. It sounds like New Yorkers are going to need a new superhero who is made out of a fly swatter.
The bug who comes from Japan is named Periplaneta japonica, and was discovered at the High Line park in Chelsea. The origins and confirmation of the bug were identified by Jessica Area and Dominic Evangelista, two Rutgers University scientists. They reported that the bug found at the park was very similar to the original species which measures about an inch and a half in length. Some experts believe that the bug was able to make it to the states through the soil that was from imported plants.
You would not want to see this during brunch.
