Here comes another proof that the enchanting fantasy drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms is one of the best romance comedies there are. Take a look at this very funny clip from episode 30, (a huge reward for those of you who have watched from the beginning,) when Crown Prince Ye Hua (Mark Chao) teases White Fox Princess Bai Qian (Yang Mi) simply by repeating her own words. And, did you know the original Chinese words he said, when translated literally, are even more hilarious?!

(Spoilers Alert)

Prince Ye Hua has been living in deep sorrow ever since he lost his beloved Su Su over 300 years ago. His pain is only soothed by A-Li, their young son born shortly before the severely depressed Su Su jumped off the Zhuxian Terrace. (You'd have to watch the drama to understand why Su Su felt she had to end her life.)

Imagine his shock when he sees Bai Qian, an immortal who resembles Su Su in appearance. He then notices significant signs proving to him that Bai Qian is really Su Su transformed, although he doesn't understand why.

In fact, the White Fox Princess Bai Qian turned into Su Su when she lost her memory and powers after a fierce battle and turned into a mortal. Now, however, she has recovered all her powers and memories except for the heartbreaking interlude when she was Su Su.  All she knows is that this unfamiliar albeit handsome prince seems to be taking a strong interest in her, even though she knows that the two are engaged by an accord between the Fox King and the Celestial Lord.

Their child, A-Li, is the first one to notice Bai Qian and calls her "Mother." Bai Qian is kind to the child but she doesn't realize their real relationship. In trying to coax the crying A-Li, who is wondering if his mother will leave him and his father again, she soothes the child by saying she wouldn't leave because Ye Hua is her "sweetheart, darling, and precious honey."

Later on, (and this is where it gets really funny,) A-Li tries to keep Bai Qian from leaving by repeating what Bai Qian said earlier.

Ye Hua overhears it, and let's see what he steps up to say:

Aww, let's all take a deep breath and continue...

Allow me to provide the literal translation of the original Chinese endearments that Ye Hua said, (and delivered to perfection by the hotter-than-hot Mark Chao.)

"You said... I am your heart, your liver, your precious, your sweet honey jam?"

Now go back to watch the clip again with your newfound precious Chinese vocabulary. (Actually, calling someone your heart and liver is a typical Chinese endearment, especially when parents address their children.)

Who could turn down a kiss from this handsome, sweet-talking prince?

Bai Qian feels unsettled with Ye Hua because, in her mind, they hardly know each other. Adding to the awkwardness is that Bai Qian thinks of Ye Hua as a much young man, by 90,000 years!

In the meantime, Ye Hua is determined to do anything and everything to win Bai Qian's heart again!

If you haven't started watching Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, now is the perfect time to start!

I previously wrote about another funny episode in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, when Prince Ye Hua first met Su Su who was Bai Qian without her immortal powers. The handsome royal himself was also under disguise in a way, since he was injured and had to stay in his little dragon shape.

Love at first sight has never been more rollicking than in a celestial fantasy.
