During First Lady Michelle Obama's week-long trip to China, she paid a visit to the Chengdu No. 7 High School. During her brief visit, the students taught Obama the basics of tai chi and the First Lady looked like she was a fast learner. Obama said of attempting the historic Chinese martial art, "It is a truly beautiful form of physical activity, and I loved giving it a try."

Earlier at the school, Obama gave a speech stressing the importance of education and creativity. She also encouraged students to aim high even if they come from modest backgrounds like herself. The First Lady has been on education-themed trip to China with her two daughters, Sasha, Malia, and her mother, Marian Robinson.
