Stuffed mushrooms are a great finger food. If you like mushrooms, you will fall for warm stuffed mushrooms right out of oven filled with minced meat and cheese. Here is a twist that may surprise you—Korean-style stuffed mushrooms! They are delicious and easy to make, and are also great for parties, too.

Look for very fresh and slightly large button mushrooms to hold the filling. The most difficult part of this recipe is chopping the vegetables finely. Other than that, everything goes fast, and you will have delicious stuffed mushroom ready in no time.

Don't skip the brushing sauce on top. It makes the whole dish so savory and fragrant. 

You will need to chop garlic, red pepper, green chili and green onion very finely.

Mix the vegetables with ground beef, rice flour, sugar, sesame oil, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.

Mix very well with hand and knead the mixture for 1-2 minutes. This will help the meat to be more sticky.

Sprinkle a little bit of flour on the mushrooms

Fill with beef mixture and press down gently.

Bake them in the 375˚F oven for 15 minutes or until the filling is done.

Meanwhile, mix soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil in a small bowl.

Brush it over the baked mushrooms.

Sprinkle finely chopped pine nuts or walnut over the stuffed mushrooms and they are ready to serve.

Present them over a pretty serving plate or tray, because they are worth it.

Korean Stuffed Mushrooms

Ingredients :

  • 14-16 large button mushrooms
  • 2/3 lb ground beef sirloin
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 red pepper, minced
  • 1 green chili, minced
  • 2 green onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour + more
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoon finely chopped pine nuts or walnuts
For the brushing:
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Directions :

  1. Preheat the oven to 375˚F.
  2. Remove the stems of the mushrooms and brush well with paper town to get rid of any dirt. Sprinkle with a little bit of rice flour inside of the mushrooms. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine beef, garlic, red pepper, chili, green onion, 2 tablespoon rice flour, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything well and knead with hand for 1-2 minutes. This will adds stickiness to the beef mixture.
  4. Spoon the beef mixture into each mushroom and press gently on top. Place them on a baking tray and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the filling is fully cooked.
  5. Meanwhile, combine 2 tablespoon soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil to make sauce for brushing. Set aside.
  6. When the stuffed mushrooms come out of oven, brush them with the sauce on top, then sprinkle with the chopped nuts. Serve warm or at room temperature.
