How to two-time a K-drama without getting caught
One of the problems with being a K-drama addict is that each new drama demands so much time and attention. Between watching the show, dreaming about the show, and stalking online posts about the show, it can sometimes feel like a full-time committed relationship (or at least committed until the show comes to an end). This isn't a huge problem when you only have one show to watch, but what happens when a new show comes along and starts taking time from your old flame? Say you're all wrapped up in Lee Min Ho's Heirs, but you're also hearing the siren call of Jang Geun Suk's Pretty Man? How can you watch both shows at once without making one or the other jealous? Here are some tips for successfully two-timing a drama without getting caught:
1. Keep your stories straight
Which episode ended with a split screen of the characters staring at each other? Did they both have an amnesia storyline? In order to avoid that awkward moment of "Oh man, I loved when X happened last week!" only to find out that it was part of your OTHER relationship, make sure you keep your stories straight! Always read episode recaps before you leave the house to avoid getting caught in a lie!
2. Isolate your friends
Loose lips sink ships, people! The more people find out about your double life, the more likely it is that your secret will leak. Keep your friends isolated into show groups. At school, only talk about Heirs. At home, only talk about Pretty Man. Problem solved!
3. Watch out for social media
The internet is a scary place for a two-timer like you! You'll have to cut back on the comments you make about your two favorite shows, but that doesn't mean you can't still read all about them! Just make sure you clear your browsing history afterwards...
4. Be extra attentive
Don't let your old show see your shift in affection, or it may suspect that something is up! Even if you spent the day marathoning one show, you should still make time for the other one. And don't let your internet stalking of Jang Geun Suk make you forget to snuggle your Lee Min Ho pillow at night!
5. Have an alibi
Pretend to take up a hobby like book club or knitting so that you have a reason to miss the occasional episode from time to time. As you're catching up on one drama, you can always use the old "Oh! I was out at my synchronized swimming class!" excuse to buy you some time with the other drama.
I know it's hard to keep totally loyal to Heirs when there are still 6 episodes left and Pretty Man is already on episode two, so just go ahead and give in to the beauty that is two-timing K-dramas!
