Hello everyone and welcome back to the Ice Fantasy Drama Club! In these episodes we discovered that there is an extinct Ice Flame Tribe, Shi confronts his mother about his powers and questions the identity of his biological father, Li Luo confronts a Phantom to help restore Ka Suo's powers, and the other Tribe Leaders are forced to choose sides. Join Wendilynn and I as we discuss these and more topics in this week episodes of Ice Fantasy
Wendilynn: Well, this was an interesting set of episodes. So, I guess the extinct Ice Flame tribe is not so extinct.
DeShonda: These episodes this week were very interesting. I enjoyed them because we always find out something new. I am happy that Shi has put everything in perspective and discovered that he has both ice and flame powers. He even confronted his mother about it as well. I want to know more about this Ice Flame tribe that is indeed not extinct.
Wendilynn: Shi thinks he’s the son of Flame. Not even Lotus knows that she was deceived by the shape changing ability of Mr. Black Mist. Clearly she had more than one sexual encounter with Flame because he had no problem believing Shi could be his son, too. I'm so not used to seeing an actual sex scene in these asian dramas. I was like..whoa. But, it just adds to the complexity that is Shi. He’s becoming a really compelling character. Lotus killing those children for their blood, however, is just not okay. No wonder Shi has a blurred sense of right and wrong….besides really being the age of a child himself.
DeShonda: My thinking is the same as Shi’s at this point. I think he is the Flame King’s son too and I might be incorrect when stating this. The sex scene really didn’t bother me that much. I must admit that that is something not shown in Asian Dramas hardly ever. When Shi’s mother killed those children, I was very frustrated with her. She is going to do anything to make Shi King, even if it means hurting others. He is becoming a little aggressive in some scenes this week. He is still willing to help Ka Suo somewhat however. Like mother like son I guess.
Wendilynn: Shi has one goal and one goal only. To give his brother the freedom to live and love as he pleases. Ka Suo doesn’t want the crown and so Shi will make sure he doesn’t get it. His methods, I feel, reflect that he is still a child in many ways, despite his magic growth spurt. But, even Lotus would feel his wrath if she endangered Ka Suo. If she follows through on that threat to kill him, her son will let her have it. This impending contest to fight for the throne just seems like such a big hassle. Shi is determined to win, but I just am not seeing the same dedication or even any dedication in Ka Suo. Frankly, he’s starting to get irritating for me. I want to shake him and yell, “DO SOMETHING”. For goodness sake, he was under house arrest and his brother had to break him out. Yeah, yeah, he has no powers, but still….. If they continue having him wimp out until he gets his powers back, I’m going to be pissed.
DeShonda: That is correct, Ka Suo does not want the crown. He wants a completely different life in a mortal world. The battle for the throne is getting interesting. Technically Ka Suo should be the next king and he has some supporters, and so does Shi. The Mirror Of Truth was very interesting to me and it made some of the tribe Princes and Princesses choose sides. I had a feeling that this was going to be a bad idea because it would cause a rift between them, and that’s what happened with the Healer Princess and Prince. I can respect the Fairy Princess to stand by her man of the Bear Tribe and choose Shi, but she is really a supporter of Ka Suo. And now everyone will be in this big battle of a mess against each other. It does not look good to me at all. But I can understand your frustration with Ka Suo as well. He does need to do something more. But he will regain his powers back really soon. Li Luo is now at the Northern Border with the Phantom trying to help regain Ka Suo’s powers back. I hope she succeeds at the task the Ice King give her.
Wendilynn: I think the various tribal leaders respect each other enough that this is not going to tear them apart. They are really a unit and at this point, both boys are well liked by everyone. Nobody is telling the others they are stupid or inferior for their choices. That helps. Although, Hawk’s jealousy over Fairy and Bear could become a problem. Watching Healer trying to be contrary to get Luna’s attention is just cute. Oh my gosh, he’s so adorably sweet. I think she is fighting a losing battle with her feelings towards him. For someone who doesn’t like him, she always seems to be in his company, and close by. You know...when she’s not on duty protecting Ka Suo for Li Luo. I’m also intrigued by this new mystery with Phantom and whoever is in that ice cell. Could it be the missing Saint member?
DeShonda: Yes that was one of the cute moments in this episode between the Healer Prince and his crush on Luna. Healer Prince is taking the advice of Granny and others in order to win her over. I think she does like him just a little, even though she may not admit it as of yet. I will give it time and keep an eye out on these two. Speaking of cute and romantic, we finally got a kiss between Ka Suo and Li Luo. The fangirl in me was squealing like a schoolgirl because I really want them to be together. Everything about the scene was set up so romantically with the Cherry Blossoms. It was just so very perfect. Now back to this Phantom, I want to know more about him as well and what’s the mystery with the ice cell. I was thinking that it could be the missing Saint member as well and chances are that it is.
Wendilynn: I’m so with you on the school girl fangirling. At first I was just sort of rolling my eyes at the very long roll down the hill, but then they started to kiss and I was like, “YES!”. Lol These two look so good kissing together. She kisses back, he isn’t doing the whole gorilla jaw thing. It’s great. The romantic tension between these two characters just draws you in. He’s actually the sappier of the two. She’s the strong dominant one. I also was glad to see that Ice King wasn’t a total dick and was using the cover of banishment to send her on a secret mission. Yes, it gets her out of the way, but doesn’t discount her loyalty or her dedication to Ice Tribe.
DeShonda: Yes I have to agree with you, Li Luo and Ka Suo look great together when they are kissing and I am hoping to see more of it. Now I was surprised at the Ice King’s plan for her to go on the mission. I was not expecting for the Ice King to want her help in regaining Ka Suo’s powers. I thought he was against her all this time. Ice King you sneaky little devil, had me frustrated with him for treating Li Luo so harshly. And you are right, it does not discount her loyalty or dedication to the Ice Tribe.
Wendilynn: If she were to die on this mission, I don’t think the King or Queen would be all that sad. But, on the other hand, her determination and cleverness could be exactly what is needed to gain the information they so desperately need. So it’s a catch 22 for them, I think. They want her gone, but her love for Ka Suo could be the key to finding the solution. As a parent and as a ruling body, what do you do?
