Hit sitcom Friends won the hearts of many viewers across the world from its air time in the 1990s to its end in 2004. It especially won the heart of a Chinese fan who created his own Central Perk Cafe in Beijing in 2010. Like many of us, Du Xin loved watching Friends: “I’m crazy about Friends. For me, it’s like a religion. It’s my life,” he told NPR. He spent a while searching for his Central Perk but when he was unable to do so, he decided to make his own. In fact he wanted to create a cafe EXACTLY like the set on TV—down to the tiniest details. While this Central Perk is on the sixth-floor of the Chaowai Soho complex, it is a complete replica of Central Perk with the coveted couch, the brick interiors and the doorway and windows. Since it's opening, Du Xin has had a mixed clientele of locals and expats. The man behind the idea: The coveted orange couch: Friends fans come from far and wide to visit Central Perk. Du has taken an extra step and has build a replica of Joey and Chandler's apartment next door to the cafe. The project took approximately around six months and is identical down to the infamous fooseball table. I'd love to see a replica of the cafe in Coffee Prince! What favorite spot in your favorite drama would you like to see replicated? (Source: www.npr.org)
