It's Raining Down Under: Rain appointed ambassador of new Queensland tourism campaign
TEQ, the official tourism office of Queensland, recently celebrated its 20th year of successful tourism in South Korea with a reception and dinner at the Seoul Plaza Hotel's Diamond Hall. At that October 28 event, entertainer Rain (a.k.a. Jung Ji Hoon) was named the star of a new Queensland marketing campaign to bring even more of his countrymen to that gorgeous Australian state.
Kate Jones, Minister of Tourism and Major Events, explained. “The campaign will encourage Koreans to holiday in the state and experience attractions including Cairns and Great Barrier Reef, surfing and water sports on the Gold Coast, outdoor nightlife and lifestyle experiences in Brisbane, and the state’s array of food and wine offerings."
According to the Queensland tourism Weibo account, Rain will head Down Under sometime this month to start things off.
TEQ CEO Leanne Coddington also spread the news on her Twitter.
TEQ will be partnering with Korean Air, Tourism Australia, Brisbane Airport Corporation, Brisbane Marketing, Gold Coast Tourism and Tourism Tropical North Queensland for this endeavor.
With Rain on the job, and with many Koreans already enjoying vacations down there, this thing should go off without a hitch.
In other news, R.A.I.N Company is reporting that Australia is on the list of countries that Rain is planning to add to his "The Squall" World Tour 2015 - 2016. Tentatively, the tour will take him to Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia from next April to May before he crosses the Pacific to perform in Australia and the Americas.
At the present time, the Chinese leg of "The Squall" is taking him to 6 or 7 cities, starting with Changsha this Saturday November 7 and Shenzhen on November 14.
