IU creates the "IU Scholarship" to benefit her high school alma mater
We can't help, but feel proud when one of our favorite idols does a great deed. Recently, singer and actress, IU, has done a kind act worthy of that pride as she steps up to help Korean youth with her own scholarship program called the "IU Scholarship."
Under this scholarship, four students from underprivileged families of IU's alma mater, Dong Duk's Women's High School, will be awarded a sum of 5,000,000 KRW (approximately $4300 USD). The annual scholarship will be funded in its entirety by IU and commence this school year. In addition to the scholarship, IU has also donated an additional sum of 10,000,000 KRW (approximately $8600 USD) to the school to go towards school improvement funds. How generous!
To show their appreciation, the school newspaper ran an article congratulating and thanking the singer for her immense contribution. Clippings of this article later went viral when a graduate of Dong Duk Women's High School uploaded them onto the internet. They can be seen below.
We are so proud of the kindhearted IU and will continue to support her and her charity work in the future!
