According to new South Korea Law, 19 Is Now An "Adult Age"
Every third Monday in May each year is Coming of Age Day in South Korea. As you might have already guessed, it celebrates those who have just become adults, and who now have to live with the resulting responsibility and maturity. This year, South Korea decided to lower the “adult age” from 20 years old to 19 years old. This makes a bunch of K-Pop stars born in 1993 and 1994 - including IU, Shinee’s Taemin, T-ara’s Jiyeon, and many others - officially adults.
IU said “[Since I’m an adult now] I’ll try to be a stronger and healthier person!”
