Actress Ivy Chen (Skip Beat) wanted to give a surprise announcement on Chinese Valentine's Day, which is on August 17 this year, but news reporters got ahead of her. What was her big surprise?

Chinese Valentine's Day, also known as Qi Xi, or "7th Eve," occurs on the 7th day of the 7th month of the Lunar calendar. A beautiful ancient tale has it that the weaver girl in Heaven secretly married a cowherd on Earth. When they were caught, the Heavenly Emperor banished them to be on opposite sides of the Silver River (Milky Way) and allowed them to reunite only once a year. On that special night, the magpies heard of the couple's plight and flew up to form a bridge for the lovebirds to walk on the magical bridge to see each other.

To celebrate love and lovers' reunion on such a meaningful day, Taiwanese actress Ivy Chen has held a special secret for the last three months and wanted to share with her fans when she was ready.

Sharp-eyed tabloid reporters, however, have noticed Ivy wearing loose-fit clothing lately, and jumped ahead to report that the 36-year-old actress is now three-months pregnant.

Ivy then posted to FB with the following message to confirm that she is becoming a wife and already pregnant with her first child.

"Scream... We were planning to get our marriage certificate and announce it on Chinese Valentine's Day. Now it feels like someone else opened my present first. Ha Ha. (At least the present is mine!) Nevertheless, everything is beautiful and cherished. Yes, I'm beginning the next chapter in life. Thank you for your well wishes. I feel very blessed."

She also attached a cute video showing the couple stamping their name chops, then drawing a house with their combined initials, symbolizing the home that they'll build together. You can hear their happy giggles as they drew.

Ivy has been dating her boyfriend for over a year. The lucky guy is Fu-Hsiang Hsu, an acclaimed director whose credits include the popular T-drama, The Way We Were, starring Ruby Lin in a touching story about two soulmates who spent years not being able to be together.

In the meantime, the happy couple will focus on preparing for their baby. It's likely that we won't hear about a customary grand wedding banquet until after the baby is born.

Many DramaFever fans remember Ivy Chen in Skip Beat with Super Junior's Siwon and Donghae. I remember really liking the chemistry between Ivy and Siwon. We can't always expect the on-screen lovers we adore to become real-life couples. It's really wonderful to know that Ivy has found her true love and will be starting the next chapter in life.

Congratulations to Ivy Chen and Director Hsu!

Isn't that a happy surprise from Ivy Chen?
