Japanese illustrators draw cosplayers as anime characters in newest trend
Attention all cosplayers! The newest cosplay trend coming out of Japan is sure to pique your interest. By tweeting a cosplay photo and including a certain hashtag, cosplayers are getting artists to illustrate them as anime characters, and the finished products are making dreams come true.
Going on for about a month now, this newest trend is the talk of cosplayers in Japan. With a photo of themselves in costume and a corresponding hashtag, cosplaying Twitter users have been asking artists throughout Japan to draw them as illustrations. For those of you who want to give it a shot, the hashtag in Japanese is, #絵師さんにイラスト化してほしい画像をレイヤーが垂れ流す. This basically translates to "Images put out by cosplayers who want artists to illustrate them." As you can imagine, the lucky ones who have received illustrations of themselves have responded with much appreciation and are giving thanks, many seeming overwhelmed at the fact that they are now anime illustrations of their favorite characters. That, after all, is a cosplayer's dream come true.
So if you're a cosplayer, why not give the hashtag a shot? You just might get lucky.
