Kang Ha Neul takes 79-year-old lover in theater debut
He is juggling multiple jobs. The Misaeng actor booked his next gig on stage. Kang Ha Neul will take his handsome face to a live audience in the upcoming play Harold & Maude. He is scheduled to co-star with the godmother of plays, actress Park Jung Ja. Her 52 years of experience on stage will be tough to compete against. Hopefully, she'll be an experienced elder who will guide him in the right direction.
For those who aren't familiar with the classic 1971 film, it is a black comedy about a young man obsessed with death and his friendship-turned-romance with a 79-year-old woman. Kang Ha Neul will play the young Harold, whild Park Jung Ja will take on the role of Maude. You can see the trailer for the original film below:
Harold & Maude premieres at the Small Hall "Dal" of National Theatre of Korea in January. His agency made an official statement to the media today about his new role. “Although he has been filming dramas and movies simultaneously, Kang Ha Neul always had a passion for the theater. He was enthusiastic about appearing in Harold & Maude," they said. "He also expressed that it is an honor to work with great senior Park Jung Ja in his first play. This play will give Kang Ha Neul the opportunity to grow as an actor.”
