Kangin goes on hiatus from Super Junior after second DUI accident
This morning, Super Junior's Kangin was reportedly involved in a DUI investigation. The idol was driving under the influence when he hit a street light in front of a Gangnam convenience store in Shinsa-dong, Seoul, according to numerous news reports. He initially fled the scene, but he eventually spoke with local police about the accident. As a result of the accident, SM Entertainment made the official announcement that KangIn would go on hiatus from his longtime boy group Super Junior.
"This is SM Entertainment. Kangin's DUI accident is true. He went to the police station this afternoon after being contacted and was investigated at the scheduled time. Kangin is deeply reflecting after this incident. He'll be taking time to reflect and stopping all entertainment-related activities. Once again, we sincerely apologize for causing worry."
This is the second DUI accident the Attack on the Pin-Up Boys star has been involved in. He was charged for a hit-and-run case in 2009. It's heartbreaking to see one of our beloved idols succumbing to the negative effects of alcohol. I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs to overcome it.
