To up the ante for this year, KCON 2014 is bringing more that music, dance, and dramas to the table. On July 18th, it is was announced that this year's convention will also be home to the “Ongamenet League of Legends Champions Festival - Special Greet & Match” which boasts "fan vs. pro friendly matches and Q&A sessions!"

For the non-gamers in the room, League of Legends is one of the most popular video games in the world. Over 67 million people play League of Legends per month, 27 million per day, and over 7.5 million concurrently during peak hours. Some of the games most accomplished players reside in Korea, making KCON the perfect home for this event. Specific stars of Korean League of Legends professional gaming teams that will be in attendance will be announced in the coming weeks.

In addition, CJ E&M’s Ongamenet, a South Korean cable channel specializing in the broadcast of E-sport matches, will be bringing the former League of Legends professional gamer and current coach of Team Solo Mid (TSM), 'Locodoco,’ as the MC/Commentator for this special event. “E-Sport is an important part of the Hallyu wave,” said Mark Shaw, CEO of CJ E&M. “That is why teaming up with ‘League of Legends’ to bring this special event to KCON is a no-brainer.”

So what does this mean? League of Legends fans will be able to participate in one of four Q&A sessions and special 5 vs. 5 friendly matches against Korean League of Legends pro gamers. Fans that purchase official merchandise will be able to get autographs and participate in photo sessions with Korean League of Legends pro gamers.

Each day will consist of two sessions running from 11:00AM – 1:30PM and 3:30PM - 6PM. There are tickets to this event that must be purchased separately from your convention/concert ticket to ensure your spot. While ticket prices have not been announced yet, they will go on sale July 21st 10:00AM.

While I have not played League of Legends personally, I am a huge fan of player-vs-player games and I love that KCON is supporting gaming culture. This will be an amazing opportunity for players to meet other players they may know! I can't wait to see what they have in store.
