KCON adds SISTAR and GOT7 to the LA line-up and announces talent competition in NYC!
Following the addition of Roy Kim last week, KCON has announced the addition of SISTAR and GOT7 to the KCON LA concert line-up! Equally exciting, organizer announced a partnership with Korean Cultural Service NY that will bring their yearly K-pop talent competition to NY's one day event. So if you haven't experienced the jaw-dropping vocals of SISTAR, you didn't have the opportunity to see the Dream Knights when they came through for their US fan meeting tour in May, or you live to cover all things K-pop, it's time to get ready!
SISTAR is an unstoppable girl group comprised of members Soyou, Dasom, Bora, and Hyolyn that first rose to fame in 2010 with the flirty single “So Cool,” which debuted at #1 in the inaugural week of Billboard’s “K-Pop Hot 100” chart and earned them a Golden Disk Award for “Best New Artist.” In 2012, SISTAR landed back-to-back #1 albums with Loving U and Alone and took home a Digital Record of The Year award from the Seoul Music Awards. Following their success as a group, the ladies branched out into various solo projects, but they reunited in 2014 for yet another #1 hit titled “Touch My Body.” Last year, the group made an appearance as part of the LA K-pop Festival line-up. Later this month, SISTAR will be dropping a brand new single! Until then, enjoy the MV for "Touch My Body" below!
GOT7 is a multinational, seven-member hip-hop boy band whose members JB, Jr., Mark, Jackson, Youngjae, Bambam, and Yugyeom hail from the United States, Hong Kong, Thailand, and South Korea. Their first EP Got It? dropped in January 2014 and accomplished the astonishing feat of topping Billboard’s “Top World Albums” chart only 16 days after they released their debut single “Girls Girls Girls.” In late 2014, GOT7 released a second album named Identify, which captured the #1 slot on South Korea’s Gaon Chart. The band took home a Golden Disk Award for Best New Artist in 2015. Watch the video for their newest (and addictive) single "Stop, Stop It" below!
Additionally, KCON USA today announced that the Korean Cultural Service NY’s annual global K-pop singing, dancing, and talent competition "2015 NY K-Pop Festival at KCON" has begun accepting video submissions. Auditions will be held worldwide, and 6-8 finalists will compete at KCON 2015 NY on August 8 at the Prudential Center AmeriHealth Pavilion. A mystery kK-pop idol will be the judge at the final showdown at KCON 2015 NY, and the winner will get the chance to perform at the KCON pre-show concert and the K-Pop World Festival in Changwon, South Korea. Entries to the competition can be made at www.kconusa.com.
