Kim Go Eun admits her love of Coffee Prince convinced her to star in Cheese in the Trap
TvN's upcoming series Cheese in the Trap, the adaptation of the extremely popular webtoon with the same name, finally cast its leading lady with talented film actress Kim Go Eun. Although Kim initially declined the role due to scheduling conflicts, she eventually accepted after the director reached out to her. So what was it about this show that convinced her to make the move from film to drama? It was actually Kim Go Eun's love of the K-drama classic Coffee Prince that sealed the deal!
For those who may not know, the Cheese in the Trap adaptation will be directed by Lee Yoon Jung, who also directed the beloved series Coffee Prince, starring Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo. In a recent interview, Kim Go Eun explained, "“Director Lee Yoon Jung‘s work Coffee Prince is a work that I was sucked into and I watched over and over. I’ve always wanted to work with her one day and I’m very excited to be able to work with her. I have high expectations."
She continued by explaining that the storyline also attracted her to the project: "I’ve had a thirst for a romance, and it wasn’t easy to choose a project. In that way, Cheese in the Trap appealed to me because it’s not simply a romantic story. It also is a work through which I could think about a person’s complicated thoughts." She also stated that she feels comfortable in the role because it's realistic and she has experienced similar things in her own life.
At the very least, we know that Kim Go Eun has great taste in dramas! The series also stars Park Hae Jin, Seo Kang Joon, and Nam Joo Hyuk. The premiere date for the drama as not been set yet, but it will most likely air in December or January. You can sign up for new episode alerts to see this series exclusively on DramaFever HERE!
