Kim Sae Ron, Kwak Si Yang, and Jang Hee Jin join Yoon Si Yoon in Mirror of the Witch
Yoon Si Yoon's comeback drama Mirror of the Witch has filled out its cast with several interesting new additions. Kim Sae Ron, Kwak Si Yang, and Jang Hee Jin all confirmed their participation in the JTBC fantasy fusion sageuk.
Mirror of the Witch reimagines the life of famed Joseon doctor Heo Jun with a fantastical twist. In this version, he is a brilliant and ambitious man struggling to overcome his poor background. He does his best to help the people around him until one day he discovers and falls in love with a cursed princess.
Fantastic child actress Kim Sae Ron is set to play Seo Ri, the daughter of royalty. When the queen (played by Jang Hee Jin, below) is unable to have children, she makes a deal with a wicked shaman (Yum Jung Ah) and conceives twins, a boy and a girl.
The daughter is cursed to have a frozen witch's heart, and her family abandons her, keeping her existence secret. She turns from a young princess into a white-haired witch — until she has a run-in with Heo Jun.
Kwak Si Yang, who you may remember as the handsome Cordon in Oh My Ghostess, will play second lead Poong Yeon.
The plot is certainly intriguing, but the big question here is the casting combination. While all of these actors are talented in their own right, we have to remember that Kim Sae Ron is still only 15 years old, while Yoon Si Yoon is pushing 30. A 14-year age gap wouldn't necessarily be a problem, but when one of them is still a minor...well, that definitely changes things.
